Bowie High School Women's Lacrosse

Bowie High School in Austin, Texas has fielded a women's lacrosse team for more than two decades. The team is made up of players from grades 9th-12th and is a member of the Central Texas Girls High School Lacrosse League (CTGHSLL). We are always looking for new players for this fast paced and exciting game. No experience is necessary. 


The purpose of our club is to promote and encourage academic and athletic excellence in young women as well as to help build their confidence and self-esteem through teamwork and commitment.

BOWIE SWAG YOUTH LACROSSE

Our Bowie SWAG (South West Austin Girls) Youth lacrosse program is a member of the Capital Area Girls Youth Lacrosse League (CAPLAX). This program is designed as a feeder program for the Bowie Women's Lacrosse program for girls in 1st-8th grade.


Bowie SWAG works closely with the coaches of the Bowie High School Women's Lacrosse program. This program promotes social, athletic and academic growth in our young ladies.


Players who participate in this youth program will develop a solid skill set that will introduce them to the competitive side of the sport, prepare them to be better lacrosse players, have more confidence in their ability, and have a greater appreciation and enjoyment for the game of lacrosse.

EMILY HEIM

HS Varsity Coach

Emily started playing lacrosse in 8th grade and was a four-year Varsity letterman at Bowie, earning All-Division and All-State honors, team MVP awards and Captain. She played collegiate lacrosse at the University of the Cumberlands. As a four-year starter, she earned NAIA First Team All-American honors and Mid-South Conference First Team accolades while ranking in the top 10 of the NAIA in draw controls, assists, points and goals while at UC. She graduated in 2021 with a Bachelors in English Literary Studies. Subsequently, Emily became a Graduate Assistant Coach at Averett University while completing her MBA, where she focused on coaching goalies, defense and draw circle players. She is excited to bring her experience and intensity to the next generation of players in Austin.

CHAR BREWER

HS Assistant Coach

Char hails from the DC area and loves all aspects about lacrosse as a player, coach and referee. She has played almost 30 years including NCAA D1, coached over 15 years and has officiated all levels from youth to NCAA for over 20 years. At the high school level, she led St. Stephen’s to win consecutive D1 District Championships during her coaching career in Austin.

Char enjoys bringing fun to the sport and teaching players how to apply what they learn in lacrosse to their life off the field such as teamwork and tenacity.
